Who are we?
Gillian Horsey
I joined Carrant Brook Junior School Governing Body in November 2014 and became Chair of Governors in September 2018. My other responsibilities are Safeguarding and Mathematics.
I worked on the administration side of education for over 28 years and retired from my post as Director of Finance and Resource at a secondary academy in August 2014. I was keen to continue my link with education and utilise the experience I gained over the years and, therefore, was delighted to be accepted as a governor at Carrant Brook. I am anxious to enure that the pupils receive the best possible education and will work tirelessly to make sure this happens.
Maria Budd
I have been the Headteacher of Carrant Brook Junior School since January 2012. Previously, I was a Deputy Headteacher for over 12 years and Acting Head at Callowell Primary School in Stroud for a year.
I have one son who is currently in Secondary Education and a very understanding husband! I spend a lot of my free time renovating a 1950s bungalow, but when time allows I enjoy a quiet moment reading a good book.
I am very proud of Carrant Brook Junior School. I am fortunate to work with a dedicated staff and some amazing children.
Simone Curran

I am passionate about helping to make Carrant Brook Junior School a place where children are given the best possible opportunities and where they enjoy coming to school.

I took up the post of Deputy Headteacher in the summer term of 2018 and enjoy working in a place which offers such a warm welcome to everyone who steps through the door.
I am enthusiastic about ensuring that Carrant Brook provides a curriculum which not only allows pupils to achieve their very best, but also helps them to develop a thirst for life-long learning.
Jo Goodchild
I grew up on the Northway Estate and attended Carrant Brook as a child. My 3 daughters have also all attended over the last few years. Now living just a stone's throw away from the gate, the school has a place in my heart.
I work as a Children & Youth Work Coordinator at Tewkesbury Baptist Church and have a background in Early Years Education, previously working in preschool settings and as a child minder.
I’m interested in the extra curricular activities available to children, getting them outside through Forest and Eco schools and things that will stretch their understanding of the world, building confidence and giving them a sense of adventure.
Jenny Songi
I live in Northway, having moved from London in 2020 to be closer to my family. I work as a Communications Manager covering innovation in the NHS and in my spare time I wanted to support the new community I live in, especially children in their formative years. I am a Governor for English and Sport.
Rebecca Atkins
I grew up in the Tewkesbury area and have lived in Northway since 2007. I have two young children who attend Northway Infants and Northway Preschool. I currently work for Gloucestershire's Early Help Advice and Guidance team and prior to that I worked for 10 years as a secondary school teacher. I aim to bring my knowledge and experience from these roles in to my position as Governor and I am passionate to help to ensure that Carrant Brook is a place where children are happy, safe and able to achieve their full potential.

I’ve been a class teacher at Carrant Brook Junior School since 2017. During this time, I’ve enjoyed the roles of Art and Science subject lead. I also particularly enjoy teaching Maths. I’m an avid netballer and spend a large majority of my free time playing!
